Trebudannon

WILL BIDDICK edged closer to the British point to point jockeys' record total of winners in a season with his second double of the weekend, this time at Trebudannon.

His current tally of 55 wins for the season now leaves the Cornish born rider needing just one more win to equal the record, set by Oliver Greenall in 2008, and equalled by his brother Tom the following season.

Biddick's mount I'm All Set made all the running to win the Intermediate. This six-year-old, sourced in Ireland by his Exmoor trainer Claire Hitch, has now won his last three races. "I just keep kicking and he'll keep galloping," remarked the rider who is also in line for his fourth successive National jockeys' championship.

His first winner of the day came when he teamed up with the Frost yard for a hard fought Maiden win on Malcolm Denmark's six-year-old Face To Face. This particular success brought reminiscences from Jimmy Frost who said, "Will came to us for lessons when he was only 15 years old".

Face To Face completed a training double for Nikki Frost which was initiated when Monet Moor landed a gamble with Bryony Frost on board in the Mares and Fillies Maiden. This home bred six-year-old was making only her second racecourse appearance. "She grazed her knee when falling on the road last year so we put her away. She is a stayer really and does well in her work. Her dam was unraced, but she is a granddaughter of our top mare Armagnac Princess," said Jimmy Frost who owns the winner.

Darren Edwards looks set to clinch the local Devon & Cornwall jockeys' title this year. Regularly commuting from his job in Leicestershire, he added two more winners on Sunday to take him to the 21 winner mark for the season. which has also seen him pass 200 career winners. The Nicky Martin yard sent out his Sunday double in the shape of Spillers Dream and Bradley Brook. The lightly raced Spillers Dream drew away from his rivals on the flat to win the four to seven-year-olds Maiden in the colours of The Bradley Partnership. "We bought him at the Derby Sales in Ireland as a three-year-old. He has been held up with a pulled muscle but this is a nice surprise because he is still very green," said the trainer.

Bradley Brook completed the Martin / Edwards double thanks to an easy Mixed Open success. "He has recovered well from his Cheltenham hunter chase exertions ten days ago and is happier jumping point to point fences," commented the trainer, whose yard was sending out its 10th winner of the season.

Blazing Whale returned to winning form under Robbie Henderson in the Conditions event for ten-year-olds and upwards. "He had a virus after running in a hunter chase at Chepstow and bled in his last outing at Great Trethew," explained trainer Ed Walker who shares ownership with Francis Read.

Jamie Thomas is enjoying his best ever season and clocked up his 18th success of the campaign on Le Clo De La Londe. who mastered the well backed Boymann on the run in to win the Restricted. The winner carries the colours of John and Sonia Gardener and hails from the kayley Woollacott yard.
