| A dead heat in the
three runner men's open provided Ashley Farrant with the
second leg of his double at the
Eggesford meeting at Lifton. He was on board favourite David Johnson's Oneminutetofive but the
judge couldn't split the difference between him and Dominic Alers Hankey on
Springford.
Farrant had earlier taken the restricted on Baldara but had missed out on a treble when Just Sally was beaten by Sarah Batchelor's Damiens Pride who was defying his years (14) to give Tim Dennis a second win of the season. Leslie Jefford is right back in form and took the confined hunts maiden on the Valerie Graham trained Zaffaran five year old My Whisper, getting home ahead of Josanjamic and Liam Heard. He also was second in the restricted on Ivan's Dream and third in the men's open on Sue Trump's Norlandic. The ladies' open gave Mandy Hand her second win of the season on Karadin, with the smart What A Mover back in third behind Tanya Newman and Breteche. Ask Again got her act together after a pair of pulled ups to land the young horses maiden under Lucy Gardner and another lady rider in the winners' enclosure was Caroline Prouse on Father Mansfield. Fined for not giving the horse enough opportunity to win last time out, she made no mistake in the four runner members, getting off the mark for her first win of the season. Colin Heard, who was building up for his 40th birthday party that evening, nearly didn't make it when he had a crashing fall in the last . He made the party but was still on the sidelines on Monday.
