This weekend we headed to Charm Park at Wykeham for the Staintondale Hunt meeting and great credit should go to the organisers who had put plenty of effort in to achieving great racing conditions, with the ground officially good. Jack Teal was the man in form who was returning from around a 7 week break through injury. Another double came from Will Easterby who would partner the veteran and Grimthorpe winner Monsieur Jourdain and the in form Black River to victory.

Teals first win came in the Restricted race aboard his own Shepherds Cave, the pair tracked runner up and favourite Super Lunar till approaching the last where Teal drove his mount to lead and stayed on well to win by three lengths, only four runners took part and it was a distance back to the third. The winner was having his second victory of the season and has been in consistent form all year, it's was also a dream return for Jack who was having his first ride back from a badly broken collar bone "we'll just continue pointing with him, he stays well and I always knew I had another gear" said Jack who also trains a small handful of horses from his Norton base.

The Open Maiden was where Jack got his second winner and brought together his double, he would partner the Roger Marley Withoutmoreado who was having his second start in under a week. The 5yo son of Shantou made his racecourse debut just six days earlier at Sheriff Hutton where he came home in third and after a positive ride here came away in good style from the second last to win impressively. As is the stables normal practice the winner will now head to the sales where he looks likely to go on and have a good career under rues "he stays really well and he's a class horse" said Jack who felt the winner has a bright future. Second place yet again went to Emory who must be proving frustrating after consistently hitting the cross bar, whilst Clashganny and Will Easterby were third.

Will Easterby continued Black River's great form by taking the Mixed Open, the pair have been in consistently good form this season and made it a third win of the year. The pair were always prominent and going well and stayed on stoutly from the last to fend of the progressive Snow Castle and John Dawson who may have threatened more if it was not for a bad blunder two out and will be more at home on a stiffer track, Oscar O'scar put up another good performance in third and should be getting his head in front before long. The winner has been kept busy this season but is making up after having a light campaign over the last few seasons "he had some problems when we got him but he's in great form now, when horses are in form you can run them...he may head for a hunter chase now, somewhere like Perth" said Will who's charge most famously beat Vautour in France in his younger days.

The second winner for Easterby came in the Confined with the 13yo Monsieur Jourdain, the pair led from flag fall and galloped on strongly to win easily, second was The Mobile Man and Kate Lowcock with Mickey Miller and John Dawson third, large distances covered the first three "he was well in here, he had no penalties and he likes this track" said Will who further strengthened his position at the top of the leading gentleman rider title.

The final race was a conditions maiden for horses who have not finished in the first three, it would go the way of the promising 4yo Does He Know trained by Cherry Coward and ridden by John Dawson, the pair tracked the leaders and led two out and had to fend off a sustained challenge from the Will Easterby ridden Teescomponents Boy. It was a career first for Coward who was training her first 4yo debutant winner "I can't believe it, it's fantastic... he'll go to the sales now, hopefully Cheltenham" said Coward who's charge is by Japan Cup winner Alkaased out of bumper, hurdle and chase winner Diavoleria. Third place went to Peep O'day Dell under Tom Strawson and is another who can do well in time.

The opening race was a Conditions race where non novice riders receive a penalty and it would go the way of the novice ridden Neville Woods who after looking outpaced two out stayed on strongly to the line and won easily to put Phil Greaves in the lead in the novice title "this ground was quick enough for him, he was flat out most of the way but stayed on well" said Phil and it was novice riders who would fill the places with No Secondchance and Kate Lowcock in second, and Cara Richardson and Tom Horn back in third.
