The Cheshire Hunt have attracted 126 entries, for their fixture between the flags at Alpraham, Nr Tarporley this Sunday April 18th 2010, which is an increase of 11% on the corresponding meeting last year.
The popular Cheshire fixture also stages the feature race in the North Western area, which is the Scally Muire Trophy, worth a monkey in prize money. Each season all the hunts in the area have the option of staging the race, and they can then decide which race that they want the Scally Muire Trophy to feature in. The Cheshire Hunt have opted for the PPORA Club Members race.
Racing comes under starters orders at 2.00pm with the Members and is set to conclude at 5.30pm with the Open Maiden race over two and a half miles.
Clerk of the course Hugh Holbrooke lists the ground as Good with soft patches on Monday April 12th 2010. Holbrooke will water the course if necessary to ensure decent going for the meeting.
Admission to this popular Cheshire course is £20 per car, regardless of the number of passengers with single occupancy charged at £15.00.
There will also be a parade of the Cheshire hounds between the second and third races, this event is very popular with the younger generation, who love to go into the parade ring and mingle with the hounds.
The feature race on the card, the PPORA Club Members race, for the Scally Muire Trophy, which has attracted the highest number of entries at 23. This looks a quality race headed by Gunner Jack, trained by David Easterby. His charge has won all three starts this season, and looked impressive last time out at Charm Park when beating Madison de Vonnas by 6 lengths. Also entered is My Flora from the Sheila Crow yard, the Alflora mare has not been extended to win her last two races at Garnons and Sandon. Master Billy, trained by Richard Mathias in South Wales won his Members race at Llanfrynach by a fence and a half. Others with winning form to note include Banbury Babe, History Master, Nosey Gunner and The Howardian, a really good race in prospect for the feature race in the area.
