by John Milburn

Witton Castle on Bank Holiday Monday stages the Zetland Point to Point where 173 entries have been received and with 63 entered in the open maiden this race has been divided resulting in a 7 race card.

Starting at 2:00pm with the member’s race, Simon Robinson holds all the aces with his pair of Ben From Ketton and Crashtown Leader and whichever he chooses can win.

The Intermediate has an entry of 19, the consistent Browns Beck will run a big race, Lord Gee has won his last 2 races with plenty in hand, but Cop Howe who returned back to form with a vengeance at Easingwold can follow up for Jacqueline Coward.

Of the 30 entered in the Restricted the 2 most interesting entries are the Shirley-Beaven pair of Qollioure who a star of the future when winning at Mordon and Silk Parasol who was still in with a chance when falling at the last at Mordon. Chummys Double under Mark Walford can progress and would be a very popular winner for Robin Tate.

Sonevafushi who won at the last Witton Castle meeting proved that his exertions in the Aintree Fox Hunters had done him no harm when winning at Whittington will be at very short odds to win at the expense of Sir Alf and Shanteen Lass.

The Ladies Open looks red hot with the Shirley-Beaven pair of top rated Minouchka and Themanfromcarlisle, these along with Interdit, Narciso, Welcome To Unos, Virgin Soldier and Wilfie Wild will ensure a strong pace and an exciting finish.

The first Maiden Division can go to Crow Spinney who looked a certain future winner when chasing home Chummys Double at Mordon whilst Dee Cee Bolter and Sam’s Party are the 2 top rated in Division 2.
