Stevenstone
Vauterhill
Bank Holiday Monday 5th May 2008

by Lucy Johnson

ROSETTES are presented to the first three horses home at the Stevenstone meeting at Vauterhill on Bank Holiday Monday which is an added bonus for owners.

Seven races make up the card, with the members’ race off at 2pm and the maiden has been split with 25 entries in each.

Camilla Scott had the nightmare of watching Southwestern crash out at the second last in the Champion Hunters’ Chase at Punchestown on Saturday when travelling like a horse with a winning chance, and while a point-to-point is scant consolation for landing such a big surprise, she’ll have plenty of supporters at Vauterhill backing her runners. They include the four times winner So Long who is entered in the mixed open and must have plenty of cut in the ground; Jack’s Taxi who has a good chance of landing his second success of the season in the members’ and Yufo who may go well in the intermediate.

Emergence is another entry in the intermediate and if she is none the worse for her fall in the mares’ championship final at Clifton-On-Dunsmore in April, she could go well. Master Kevin is another who could go well if he turns out again following his win at Trebudannon on Saturday.

Con fined entries include plenty of consistent horses who will give you a run for your money and include Big Brendan , Ballybrown, McSolo and The Quarry Man.

In the first division of the maiden, Miss Purdy and Alfie’s Isle are one’s to note and in the second division Max’s Choice looks the pick.

The course is situated near High Bickington and will be signed from the A377, A3124 and the B3227. Entrance is £10 per car and driver and £5 for each extra person up to a maximum of £20.
