With Welsh point-to-pointers Lady Myfanwy, Little Ed, Sams Lad,Chestnut Annie and Minsgill Man all expected to line-up for the Dunraven Bowl Hunter Chase at Chepstow Racecourse 24 hours earlier, the men's open at Laleston on Saturday could go to Margaret John's Adventurist who came late on the scene to win the confined at the Pentyrch last weekend. There are 22 entries for this race and these include Corkan, Tanmeya, Mike Golden and Grey Kid.

Boy wonder Rhys Flint, who brought his season's tally of wins to seventeen last weekend when winning on Iris's Prince and Lady Myfanwy,will be standing in for the injured Lucy Pearce Rowsell and will be riding David Brace's runners. David, sponsor of the Dunraven Bowl as well as a number of other races, has Mike Golden entered here as well as in the members'race and the confined. However, whichever race Mike Golden runs in the tip should be taken.

There are 28 down to run in the ladies' open and Howdydoody,who gave Christine Toy her first winner in just five rides when making all the running at Bonvilston, may have Prioritisation, Miss Sallyfield, Fleur De Nikos, Lunar Crystal and that grand old campaigner Longstone Boy to contend with.

Merthyrmawr, Leahy, Fishguard Lily, Joshua Squashuar and Imperial Sam are just some of the 32 horses entered for the restricted. Merthyrmawr could go off favourite but Silver Story and Got No Shadow, who lost their maiden tags at the Llandeilo Farmers, are two others to consider.

Of the 18 down to run in the members' race, Apocalozzo, an impressive winner of his maiden, is set to have one more run between-the-flags before going on to race under Rules. Bobosh, Koumba and Saucy Jack have also been entered in this race.

There are 33 entries for the young horse maiden and 24 for the aged horse maiden. Up The Boreen, Pure Palatial and Little Miss Monty catch the eye in the young horse maiden and Billy Lane, Darivan and Scally's George in the aged maiden. The races are held on land farmed by hunt-racing stalwarts Dillwyn and Barbara Thomas. Barbara, who has sadly been ill for some time, was a leading lady rider in the 1950s and the Thomases have saddled numerous winners in their time. It is hoped that Barbara will be well enough to put in an appearance on Saturday.
