The Vale of Lune Hunt stage a good competitive days racing between the flags at Whittington, Nr Kirby Lonsdale on Easter Saturday March 22nd 2008. This fixture has attracted 113 entries, which is an increase of 10% on the corresponding meeting last year. As an incentive and as a token of gratitude to the owners and trainers that regularly support this meeting, the Vale of Lune will be refunding the £20 entry fee to the connections of all the declared runners at the course.
Racing comes under starters orders at 2.00pm and is set to conclude at 5.10pm. In addition to six races on the card, there will be an additional two pony races that begins before racing at 1.00pm.
Clerk of the course Chris Hodgkinson lists the going as Good on Sunday March 16 th 2008. Hodgkinson will be putting a daily report on the going on the website, which is whittingtonraces.co.uk
Admission to this popular Cumbrian course is £25 per car regardless of the number of passengers with single occupancy charged at £15.
The first horse past the judge in the Men’s Open will qualify for the £10,000 Volkswagen Touareg Mens Championship Hunter Chase Final at Towcester on Monday May 12 th 2008. Among the entries is last year’s winner Farlington, which is trained by Mrs Shirley-Beaven, the same trainer also has the prolific winner Themanfromcarlisle declared for the race. Others to note include Hip Pocket, Castleford, Le Seychellois and Young Claude
The Vale of Lune will be having a parade of their hounds at around 3.20pm, this event is very popular with the younger generation who love to go into the parade ring and mingle with the hounds.
