BANGOR ON DEE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO AN EXCITING POINT-TO-POINT MEETING WITH THE FOCUS ON LOCAL TALENT
Bangor on Dee Racecourse is looking forward to staging this season’s Sir Watkins Williams Wynn and the Flint & Denbigh Point to Point races on Sunday 9th March and Sunday 13th April, with the focus on one of the area’s leading point to point jockey’s, Will Kinsey.
Will Kinsey grew up in Cheshire and comes from a strong racing background, which seems to involve the whole family. His mother has trained point to pointers successfully for over 20 years and his sister Hannah has also had many successful wins. Growing up in the Cheshire Hunt South Pony Club, Will had his first point-to-point ride when he was 18 on a horse trained by his mother called “Albert Blake”.
In 2006, he won the North West Area Final at Bangor on Dee and is now Assistant Trainer to Donald McCain (son of Ginger McCain) based in Cholmondely, Cheshire.
Will aims to ride two horses this season at Bangor on Dee “Adams Wine” and “Would Wouldnt” who dead heated in a hunter chase at Huntington last Thursday with Will on board. His mother trains both horses.
When asked his aim for the season Will stated “To do as well as I can in the North West Area and to get as close to Richard Burton as possible or even beat him, especially as he is marrying my sister this summer!”
In addition to aiming for successful runs at both Bangor on Dee Point-to-Point’s, Will hopes to ride around Aintree and Cheltenham this season.
Point-to-Point racing at Bangor on Dee Racecourse is in its third season and Ed Gretton, Clerk of the Course says, “The track is in good condition and will be ready for inspection from the 2 nd of March.”
Racegoers at both meetings will have all the usual racecourse facilities available to them with excellent paddock facilities and viewing of the one mile and three furlong point-to-point track, which is ridden right handed with the finish in front of the public car park.
Once again, Carter Jonas - a national firm of Chartered Surveyors and Property Consultants - are delighted to announce their sponsorship of both Point-to-Point meetings, this is their second year of involvement with racing between the flags, following a very successful introduction to race sponsorship in 2007. With 18 offices in England and Wales and an increasingly diverse range of clients, Carter Jonas is able to offer expertise in a wide range of property matters. The Shrewsbury office has specialist divisions for Rural Professional Work, Rural Agency, Planning & Development, Minerals & Waste Management and CAD & Mapping.
