Vine & Craven
Barbury Castle
Saturday 16th February 2008

Guildford based Philip York, making a determined bid for the point-to-point riders’ championship, has three good rides at the Vine& Craven meeting on Saturday 16 February. Officially a Sandhurst Area fixture, the seven race programme starting at midday will be staged at Barbury Castle, near Marlborough.

York’s Tweseldown win on Peppershot last Sunday brought his total to seven, putting him in third position on the Leaderboard behind reigning champion James Tudor, who has just reached double figures.

“I ride Dante’s Storm in the Confined,” said York, “and Dun an Doras in the Open – they would both have good chances.” Dante’s Storm will be opposed by Alresford trainer Victoria Collins’s Gielgud, mount of Jockey Club Communications Director, John Maxse.

York then has a seventy minute breather before partnering Top Society Girl in the second division of the Maiden. The first of the two popular pony races for riders under 16 will be at 11.00am.

Barbury Castle has some of the best point-to-point facilities in the south of England – superb viewing, good catering and retail outlets and plenty of competitive bookmakers.

Entrance is £25.00 regardless of number of occupants and access of off Exit 15 of the M4, three miles due south of Wroughton and five miles north of Marlborough.
