11.00 a.m. Open Maiden 5, 6 & 7yo - 27 entries
Where’s My Baby was only just beaten here at the last meeting in a very fast run race; looks the likely favourite this time but could go to Detling. Took My Eye could also head south but needs to be considered as he showed ability in Irish points. Basiliko has let punters down at the two Cottenham meetings but does have the ability if inclined to use it. Loose Morals would surely have had a say in the finish before being brought down 4 out at Cottenham. Rydal Park was placed in a Hurdle race and should make his presence felt if taking this opening. The Piper’s Son would be a popular winner and showed plenty on his debut here last season. Gunner Getya was 4 th behind a decent animal last year but 3 miles is stretching her stamina at present, (easy track here may help). Mirage Prince was very moderate under rules but ran passably in a Maiden here 3 weeks ago - has plenty to find with Where’s My Baby on that running.
Selection: Where’s My Baby (Loose Morals)
11.35 p.m. PPORA Club Members (Novice Riders) - 12 entries
Alittlemoreaction failed to add to his 4 wins last season, he disappointed after falling on his seasonal debut at Charing; he likes these sharp tracks and could well bounce back. Galapiat Du Mesnil’s front running style is also ideal for this track and he will be a major contender. High Rank looked to have the measure of Sure Future last week until the latter rider’s greater experience told after the last. Itsallupintheair was a winner in Wales last season but went off far too quickly when running here at the last meeting, he is better than he showed that day. Nokimover was well ahead in 2 nd that day. As was Magic To Do in 3 rd but the form may be reversed on this occasion. Major Blue is a brother to Nokimover but was well beaten at Tweseldown. Sideline Critic won a weak Maiden at Welbeck but was disappointing after.
Selection: Galapiat Du Mesnil (Itsallupintheair)
12.10 p.m. Open Maiden 8yo& up-26 entries
Alpine Star was a good 3 rd in a Cheltenham novice hurdle in 2005 but has a 3 year absence to overcome, but a run any thing like that would suffice here. The Right People has also been placed over hurdles and will have no problem stamina wise, however, he unseated in his only Chase. Clifford T Ward, Parzando and Yukon Jack have placing in points and may strike lucky one day. Our preference would be for Clifford T Ward. Very Presentable is lightly raced but ran a fair 3 rd in an elders Maiden at Cottenham. Spanchil Hill is a moderate performer under rules but would have a fair chance in this company.
Selection: Alpine Star (Spanchil Hill)
12.45 p.m. Intermediate -11 entries
Mr Tee Pee looks the type who does no more than is necessary; he completed a double at the two Cottenham meetings and looks sure to start favourite to complete the hat-trick. Sovereign Quest showed much improved form to win the Melton novices on his final start last season. Ifubelieveindreams showed a gutsy attitude to win a Restricted last year but needs a bit more in this company. Oscar Royal is from a yard that launched a successful raid at the last meeting and looks sure to go well. Supreme Sir was impressive when winning here but ran poorly at Ampton last week, could trouble the best if on song today.
Selection: Mr Tee Pee (Oscar Royal)
1.20 p.m. Mens Open – 22 entries
Brown Teddy is a six times winner under rules and should give his owner rider some fun. Dumadic is also a winning chaser having previously won points but has changed hands - maybe best watched today. Cantarinho has had niggly problems over the years and probably has been unable to achieve the success his level of ability would have allowed. Half Inch will need a little improvement if adding to his recent course win. Kjetil is a quirky old boy but has the benefit of top pilots. Noakarad de Verzee was a revelation last season but pulled up in a hot race on his seasonal debut at Tweseldown, however, it is far too early too write him off. Turnstile travelled like the winner at Cottenham before Christmas but faded tamely from the second last. Another Dude, Ange De Villez and Star Double all ran well here at the last meeting.
Selection: (Noakarid de Verzee) (Turnstile)
1.55 p.m. Ladies Open - 16 entries
This could an absolute classic, a really strong entry of good quality animals. Beet De Bob rallied most gamely to wrestle the advantage back from Fullards at the last meeting here. Va Vavoom was a casualty after a circuit that day but is a strong contender on his two victories last year (here). Bering Gifts has been astutely placed to collect numerous wins but may find this company too taxing. Big Moment is a really interesting contender; he was placed in listed company on the Flat and also is a winner over Hurdles and Fences. Dumadic is a winner of three Chases and is certainly another to consider. Full Irish failed to build on his debut win here last season, so a watching brief may be best today. Galway Breeze was disappointing last season and looks up against it here. Peachy is a very lightly raced horse but he followed a good win here in 2006 with a placing in a Fakenham Hunter Chase, (missed last year). Step And Run will have a very able pilot but looks a bit short of a few of these. Local favourite Tartar Sabre jumped indifferently at the last meeting here and looks likely to struggle on this occasion.
Selection: Va Vavoom (Beet De Bob)
2.30 p.m. C A Club Members- 14 entries
Cantarinho would have an easier task in this race than the Mens Open. Bob Justice was an expensive flop last year and needs to settle better (was decent under rules). Lord Atterbury needs a stiffer stamina test than this course provides. Resplendent Star has run some of his best races here but is not the greatest of jumpers. Top Bombing won a Maiden last year but that looks short of the required standard in this company. Peppershot steadily improved last year and could reach the frame.
Selection: Cantarinho (Resplendent Star)
Enjoy a good days racing
