OWNER RIDERS WELCOME. I have been training and riding my own pointers for more years than I would like to admit - with lots of tumbles but quite a few winners as well. Now my husband (Doug Harkin)and I have just moved to a purpose built yard with probably the best training facilities in the country. We have a 6 furlong all weather uphill gallop (waxed sand and rubber) which never freezes, an all weather 8 furlong circular gallop (also sand and rubber) A beautiful 8 furlong grass gallop with an uphill finish, an all-weather menage, and a selection of schooling fences including regulation fences.
Having enjoyed my time as an owner rider so much I would very much love to train for other owner riders where we can all share in the buzz and excitement of getting into the winners enclosure or just getting home safely. The 'apres racing' is also taken very seriously with an extremely good drinks cabinet for the end of the day.
We also specialise in breaking in young horses and have some very promising and well bred youngsters for lease or to sell.
We have 5 of our own horses in training but have 6 spare stables for the 2009 season. We are situated just off the M40 near Banbury with easy access, visitors welcome.

In my second season training point to pointers, all my horses have ran well and have won or been placed in Points and Hunter Chases. Now looking for more horses for next season. I offer rest and recovery livery at very reasonable rates. So far I have had success with horses that have come out of training under rules due to injury or loss of interest.
Based in beautiful Cheshire countryside in close proximity to the M6 facilities include grass gallops, horse walker, indoor and outdoor schooling arenas, turnout paddocks, schooling and cross country fences, I also have access to excellent 5 furlong all weather gallop.
I competed successfully in show jumping having represented GB at the young rider European Championships three times and winning the National Championships in 1999. I also school and train event horses so horses are always well schooled on the flat and over fences.

Ashley Farrant
South West England (Devon & Cornwall, Wessex)
Ashley Farrant's point-to-point yard, at Coldharbour Farm, is located on the edge of Exmoor National Park. The yard is set in a perfect location for all of the South West's tracks and provides an excellent environment for the horses.
In 2004 he broke the record for the number of winners ridden in a season (54 with the backing of David Pipe's yard) and secured the National Point-to-Point Riders Championship. Since deciding to hang his boots up, Ashley has successfully turned his sights to training point-to-point winners in the South West (from first-time out maidens to experienced open horses).
Ashley's training facility, approximately 85 acres in total, of established grassland provides an excellent environment for the horses. The yard, has approximately 18 stables as well as many turnout paddocks, a horse-walker, multiple gallops ensuring that any horse here has the best training that we can possible give it.
If you are thinking of becoming a racehorse owner, then you ought to keep in mind that it includes ... the fun of buying your horse, choosing your colours, watching your horse on the gallops in the early morning light (and rain!), and, of course, the thrill and anticipation of being in the paddock before and after a race. Whether you win or lose, the action is electrifying... it's second to none and you're right in the thick of it.

Belinda Keighley
Condicote Stables near Stow on the Wold
With husband Martin granted his public licence in October 2006 the Point to Pointers will now be trained by Belinda who retired from race-riding in 2005 having ridden 10 winners including Bosuns Mate in a Hunter Chase at Sandown. With the use of David Nicholson's uphill woodchip gallop, a mile & a quarter grass gallop, a mile dirt gallop along with acres of extensive old pasture it is particularly ideal for rejuvenating horses. All the horses get turned out in individual paddocks (well wrapped up) daily.
With many of the team having an eventing background, all the horses are well schooled and with Martin having spent time at Cheltenham Racecourse learning the art of fence building, the schooling fences are superb. Martin has trained Prince Dundee to win a race every season since he arrived four years ago (including his 1st winner under Rules in Jan 07) despite having very fragile tendons to the amazement of his vet!
For the Pointers Richard Burton is first choice jockey although owner/riders are very welcome too. The yard is always open to owners who can call in and see their horses, watch schooling and watch work whenever they wish to. Although the aim is always to train winners there is also a huge emphasis on being part of a team and having a lot of fun.

We are based at the foot of the Quantock hills in a village called Spaxton. The yard has enjoyed a good few seasons since we started and last year was another good one highlighted by Kingscliff and our 5 timer at our local meet the Quantock staghounds at cothelstone. We are setting up a racing club. We have 3 horses in the club at the moment(more will follow) and would like to get more people/couples involved. To try to keep people interested in this financialy difficult time we are trying to find ways of owning pointers that wont cost a fortune for the normal pointing owner. The idea is a one payment for the season, no hidden costs so you dont have the monthly training fees.If anyone is interested please let us know
As well as the club we have some nicely bred yougsters for sale to stay in the yard.

Buck House Farm, Near Ripon, North Yorkshire
I have a very small private yard set in quiet, beautiful countryside. I have a small selection of young NH horses hand picked by Anthony and myself and bought as foals or yearlings. fOUr aim is to give these horses a really sound early education before running them quietly in point to points. Although we hope they will win a prize en route, our main aim is to condition them thoroughly both mentally and physically for the harder life which awaits them in training.
I am looking for a few owners to take part shares in these horses and have the fun of seeing them progress through the year and run in points next year, before hopefully selling and going on to compete under rules.
My record training young horses is my best advert.

We are a small friendly yard near Malton which is growing fast. We have 14 boxes in american barn stabling, walker, lungeing ring, large outdoor arena, grass gallops, sand gallops and schooling fences. We are also only 10 mins from the gallops/schooling ground at malton. We have been training pointers for the past 5 years and qualify with the Middleton although we are very handy for the Derwent, Sinnington, Staintondale and the Holderness. Our horses are always well qualified as we believe it is good education for the youngsters and gives the older horses a change of scenery.
We also take horses for sales prep, breaking and rest.

I'm a newish trainer to pointing, having for the past two seasons just training our own two horses. From just seven runners we've had four seconds and a third. Two of the seconds have been in hunter chases with a horse that we totally rejuvenated with it being soured in a professional yard. I myself worked in Lambourn for several years when it was a proper National Hunt training centre, both work riding and schooling. I was also in a top yard in Italy for two years. I am now trying to get a couple of outside owners that are willing to take a chance on somebody just starting out.I would welcome Owner/Riders. Your horse would have plenty of varied exercise, first class care and attention, four feeds aday and plenty of turnout, where I'm based it will freshen up the sourest of horses.

Milborne Port, Dorset
We are a small family yard in a lovely part of Dorset, where the care and well-being of the horse is paramount.
Training involves a combination of road, hill and flat work. We believe variation in training helps to keep the horses interested and keen. Enjoyment for horse, trainer and jockey has proven results for our yard this season.
We have just completed our first season, successfully training Vics Pride and Coverdale, both improving on their performances of their previous seasons. Both horses were placed many times and our first win with Coverdale at Ideford Arch proved our approach to training is working. We are already looking forward to next season, and will be returning with an increased yard - also including Perkys Pride and Kayleigh.
We also have facilities to care for race horses in need of box rest, please do not hesitate to contact us for further details.

Kelda Wood (KW Racing)
Shropshire
Now based from Pamela Sykes's yard in the heart of the Shropshire Hills, last season proved to be my most successful season to date with 6 winners and almost 20 placings from only 6 horses in training.
Having spent 12 years eventing before I started racing, I place an emphasis on flat work and work over poles, strongly believing horses cannot gallop and jump to the best of their ability unless they are supple, well balanced and using themselves correctly. I am now working with the principle of "quality not quantity," looking to keep the yard relativly small, so horses can be treated as individuals working on more of a one to one basis.
We are a small, friendly yard where owners, riders and staff all work very much as a team. The steep surronding hills provide the ideal place to work horses keeping them both fit and incredibly sweet....but be warned, if visiting the yard, leave the thermals behind at your peril!!
Working at nearly 1800 feet it gets pretty cold up here, but my horses have never been so fit and healthy..... not many bugs and virus's manage to survive up here either! Other facilities include a large indoor school, that allows us to keep cantering horses when it freezes, schooling fences, horsewalker, plus numerous turnout pens and paddocks. New owners are welcome for the coming season and anyone is welcome to pop in for a cup of coffe and a look round. Fingers crossed for another successful season!

We are a small yard giving personal attention to each horse and believe in a varied routine and turn out as required. With two horses in training in the 2006 season, we achieved 2 wins and 8 placings from 13 runs and now have room for one or two horses to join our three for 2007. The stables are part of a traditional estate and we are lucky enough to have access to the hundreds of acres of land surrounding us, giving a selection of gallops to keep the horses happy. We also have an all weather gallop and schooling fences to use when required.
We have experience in breaking, schooling and jumping youngsters as well as a history of winning on difficult horses and a spa and water treadmill is available should the need arise.
Win or lose,we believe in having fun and a picnic at the end of the days racing!
