Lamerton at Kilworthy
Sunday 20th March 2016
by Granville Taylor

The scenic course location at Kilworthy near Brentor, is where the Lamerton will be hosting their Point-to-Point horse racing fixture next Sunday March 20th. This is one of the oldest courses in England where the old turf there has seen racing since 1925. There are six races on offer with a total of 83 entries and a start time of 1pm opening with the Pannell Commercials Lamerton Members' race.

The 11 entries for this race are headed by Robin De Souza, unbeaten in four races this season for the Lifton yard of Dean Summersby. The same trainer looks to hold the key to this race with Printing Blue and Mausefalle as useful back ups

The Yvonne Watson Memorial Open Maiden has attracted 23 entries. Micky Stark and The Conjurer each ran well at Ottery and Meldon Express and Vila Cova have shown promise.

The Condy Mathias sponsored Mixed Open looks really competitive. Hunter chase winner Parkam Jack and the ultra consistent Kirkleigh each have to carry penalties so it would be interesting if the highly progressive Master Baker took a step up in class to test these more experienced pointers receiving weight.

Robin De Souza is also engaged in the Confined sponsored by Hunts Dawn West Devon. Reliable Richie and Flying Award could form the main opposition..

Flying Award is also in the Tinhay Building Supplies Ltd Restricted which looks wide open. The penalised Cinevator has won under rules but has changed stables. Darkgesture created a favourable impression when winning at Black Forest and other Maiden winners Creative Inerta and On Alberts Head are capable of winning in this class

The concluding Exeter Racecourse Intermediate Series qualifier has 13 entries. Ottery St Mary trainer Ed Walker is in great form and recent winners Doyen Dynamo and The Flying Doc look ready to score in this class. They will be tested by Ces Mitford-Slade's selected of Applesolutely and Winter Soldier who look sure to progress further.

This is a fabulous family day out for all to enjoy with exciting racing at this popular picnic track on Dartmoor.

On course facilities include hot food and refreshments, bar, bookies and trade stands. Entrance to the course is £10 per person up to a maximum of £30 per car. Children under 16 free. Pedestrians £10. Dogs on leads welcome.

Course is located at Kilworthy nr Brentor. Postcode PL19 0JX
