The day started off with fantastic sunshine, however deteriated through the day with light showers eventually moving down, but this did not deter race goers who enjoyed an excellent nine race card.

The highlight of the day was in the Ladies Open and saw Lynne Ward win with Wilfie Wild who is now at the ripe old age 14.There were three in a line jumping the last, but Wilfie Wild battled on to win by ½ a length. Andre Chenier finished strongly to be second with Lutin Du Moulin could never really land a blow was third. This was Wilfie Wilds tenth career victory and by far the most popular winner of the day.

One of the easiest winners of the day came in the final race and saw the homebred Skarmanche win at 14-1. John Dawson cruised up to join brother Chris at the second last and pushed his mount out to win well, with odds on favourite Toplander well held in second. Gunner Snow ran his best race in third. Skarmanche a homebred, was returning from a lay off after having leg problems.

In the Mens Open Oakland’s Bobby showed a much improved display on ground that was much more to his liking when beating hot favourite, Briscoe Place. Always prominent Chris Dawson quickened clear three out and Briscoe Place who was restrained well in rear for most of the race could never reach the leader who eventually won comfortably. High Moor was back in third.

The most exciting horse came in the Confined race which saw Blazing Bull improve again. Blazing Bull led at the third last and stayed on well all the way to the line and looks to have a good future in point to points and Hunter Chases. Beauchamp Oracle stayed on strongly into second but could never reach the winner, whilst Harwood Dale who made most of the running, could only manage third.

Division 1 of the Open Maiden saw Chris Dawson complete his four timer aboard My Mate Vic. Always travelling well the pair moved to the lead turning into the straight however was persistently challenged by Bring It On all the way to the line, however Dawson managed to force his mount out to win. Ramborob was heavily supported but disappointed as he could only manage third.

Divison 1 of the 2 ½ mile Open Maiden saw Flag Hill get off the mark after several good runs this season. Flag Hill was always prominent and was clear at the third last and ran on strongly under John Dawson to win by six lengths. Lewesdon Tom showed an improved effort back in second, whilst Dark Knight was third. The winner was homebred and is the last one out of mare Dreamago who has bred 6 winners.

Division 2 of the 2 ½ Maiden was much more incident packed and saw Yes I Can win. Always prominent, Yes I Can was left clear two out when To The Wire came down, allowing Yes I Can to come home easily, Victor stayed on for second whilst Barrow Way took a remote third in a much-depleted field. The winner was sent from Ireland by Adrian Costello, who thought the horse needed fast ground, which he would never get in Ireland and was very much correct.

The Restricted went the way of Cherry and Jacqueline Coward with Cottam Phantom. The pair made most of the running and stayed on well to beat the Poor Man who travelled up strongly and looked a danger, but found little off the bridle and finished second. Brother Mark stayed on to take third.

The opening race was the Members race and was a match between short price favourite College Land Boy and Willybegood. The pair jostled for the lead, however the favourite showed a great unwillingness to win, which allowed Tina Jackson and Willybegood to take full advantage and win easily.
