South Midlands Area Club
Tweseldown
Sunday 15th February 2009
by Robin Gray

Holly Campbell, paying her first visit to Tweseldown since she was a teenager, scored a five length success in the Ladies Open on Sunday, riding her own Bedtime Boys.

Holly, now 28, had won a 2-star young riders event on the cross country course on her last visit in 1998.

‘It’s great to come back here after 11 years and ride another winner,’ said Holly. ‘I hope we’ll be back on 26 April for the next meeting.’

Holy runs a pre-training and point-to-point yard in Northamptonshire, and Bedtime Boys was running for the first time in her dark blue colours, having been given to her as a gift last year.

The Men’s Open provided a first winner for Upham, Hampshire trainer, David Buckett. He saddled Armoury House, ridden by Tom Ellis, to win for owner Anna Reed, who travels from the Isle of Wight to see her horses run.

‘What a lovely surprise’, said Anna. ‘Armoury House was pulled up last time out and we weren’t certain how he would run or even whether he would stay the three miles. He has been used to running over shorter distances but now I think we’ll try a Hunter Chase because he is an excellent jumper and obviously gets the longer distance.’ Armoury House beat the recent Nottinghamshire winner, Cheyne, by four lengths.
